As recently discussed-

A1237 Hopgrove-A19 1985
A1237 A19-Copmanthorpe 1987

Also-

A64 Malton bypass 1982?
A64 Seamer bypass 1988
A166/A163 (Now A614) Driffield bypass 1983?
My old posts are just downright embarrassing.

Cumbrian road projects of the eightes:
1981, A66 Appleby by pass
1982, A590 Greenodd by pass, Lindale by pass
1986, A595 Thursby by pass
1988, A591 Staveley by pass
Not a vintage decade for new roads then.

Actually I think that would be better described as the Ruxley bypass (heading from Foots Cray on the A224 to B2173) Also I assume the A21 dual carrigeway from Old London Road, Badgers Mount to Hewitts roundabout was built c1986 close to the completion of M25 J4.
6 years...

As far as I was aware, this was built as part of the same contract as the M25 allowing the A21 to be diverted along the spur, and multiplexing with the M25 between J4 & J5.

The first section (Halbeath to Mossmorran) of the A92 East Fife Regional Road from M90 J3 to Kirkcaldy was started in 1993, and the final section opened in 1990. But the road had been planned since at least 1971, and J2 of the M90 was built in 1966 as the intended start of the road.

Indeed the present spur A823(M) was originally called M92.

April 1 1980, A352 Wareham bypass Stage 1, northern half.
Sept 26 1988, A351 Wareham bypass Stage 2, southern half.

The northern half was no use to A351 traffic.

Was this ever proven? I thought there was a plan to renumber the A823(M) as M92 when it was finished, but that never happened?

I could have sworn I had an old map which showed it as M92, but on digging out my 1" sheet 62, vintage circa 1970, I find it shows no number against the road.

So right now I have no evidence, and the idea must be regarded as uncertain.

I used to think of the spur as the M92 in the 1970s, and didn't hear of it as A823(M) until the 1980s or 90s, but that doesn't prove anything.

Mostly dual carriageway with 2 lanes westbound and one east!

Officially known as Riding Mill bypass, I believe.

Yes but its main intention was to by pass Corbridge, removing all long distance traffic from this affluent village.

I think Sadlers was about 1990.

Pitsea flyover is indeed a 70s construction, and an absolute nightmare. Work has been going on for six years now to waterproof it, and STILL the county council is not solving the problem!
