Secondly, widening off M42 J10 is nearly done by the looks of things. They have made a complete pig's ear of the signs and markings though.
May be a job opportunity on my doorstep then? :P Whilst I haven't seen the northbound exit slip signs and lines, I think a certain senior member here might be a bit upset to see one of his schemes ripped up and replaced with what sounds like a complete and total botch job... :(

Coming from the A5 Westbound, there were no signs illustrating any closed lanes on the roundabout, but Lane 1 was coned off on the approach. However, on the roundabout it was the right-most lane that was closed (Lane 4, Lane 2 after the M42 South slips), which meant people in the lane for the M42 north quickly found they had nowhere to go.
I noticed that too, very poor traffic management on show there. Surprising really since the pinch-point scheme up the road at Wall Island already looks the business and the TM there was very good (bar the 31st September sign a little earlier on this thread). I would actually question the value of these J10 works since I've never once seen anything traffic-wise that could justify the widening on the slip road around to Centurion Park.

Especially since HS2 is going to tear through the junction in a few years time...

The extra traffic lights for the Services and Trinity Way seem a bit overkill too. There never seems to be any major problems for traffic coming out of either. An easier solution would be to simply increase the delay between the lights on the roundabout and those on the A5 (which they have done anyway).

I've only ever seen 'traffic issues' on the A5 east approach and that's only for a short period during the morning rush.

I have heard reports of it taking two hours to exit the services, but that this was caused by a traffic signal fault.

(Or Moto putting some new signs up, one of the two.)

A friend reports a sign on a footpath in Devon saying something like this:

Code: Select all

                          ____________________
                         |S W COAST PATH 150M \

As Harry Truman almost said, "The bup stops here".

When another ex-US president, Tricky Dicky Nixon, published his memoirs, there was a campaign which had as its main slogan "Don't buy books by crooks." One of its other slogans was "The book stops here."

I spotted this "20 Zone ENDS" sign in Bournemouth, which is clearly incorrect.

Here's one from Plymouth.

It's a nice idea but it's not right!

It makes the bus lane more conspicuous.

I like it.

Two signs in one - I can only see a problem with this for bus lanes that aren't 24/7 - the sign would get cluttered up very quickly.

Shame, if they did it the other way round it'd quite accurately describe the junction!

Does everyone rightfully ignore that or do people actually follow those lane markings into oncoming traffic? Actually, after the other day, it wouldn't really surprise me if the latter was true.
