The first one is the correct spelling.
It's clearly a Northamptonshire thing. My own street in Corby suffers from the same problem

Correctly spelled Lyveden: http://g.co/maps/n3229

Wrongly spelled Lyvedon : http://g.co/maps/jdakk (unfortunately blurred by GSV!)

What doesn't help is that the road is a TOTSO and until recently didn't show up on a lot of sat navs. I've lost track of the number of times I've been phoned by delivery companies asking which one of the two roads I'm actually on.

Either way compass directions on the road number when used in conjunction actual primary destinations just look silly, Yes we know from Perth Inverness is North and Stirling is South without having to be told.
I'm trying remember which one was patched... the original plate I'm sure had Inverness A9(S)
Think it's the same person who renumbered Broxden to M90 J12...

GCC botch

Nothing wrong with that I hear you cry - other than the lurid yellow colour, discouraged by TSM?

Except what if you are in a car encountering that in a one way street where do you go - you cannot turn round. So of course there will be warning at the start of the road? nope. Of course you can make the signs out from there if you are going straight on, so there will be something on the other arms of the crossroad? 'fraid not

So nothing at all? Well this rather manky sign will do the job assuming you are not in lane 2 with double deckers or LGVs blocking your view of it.

Not only Northamptonshire - we have this one in Wooddagger Close, Hindley.

The sign on the right has lost its "W" thanks to GSV, but it has also lost a "d" thanks to whoever made the sign!

That is a pet peeve of mine, living almost straight across from Birmingham it wasn't (haven't been in years so it might have changed) very useful to come out of somewhere like the NEC only to see a sign that offers only North or South when I want to go East.

It does the job...but is "Cut Your Speed" allowed as a replacement for "Reduce Speed Now"?

No but then the "very sharp bend" isn't allowed either.

Not unless there is a town or village named "Very sharp bend" located 200 yards from the junction indicated on the sign ;)

On that "very sharp bend", these arrows must be unique?

That safety fence looks like a botch job as well...

If a motorcylist hits the gap in the barrier the result will not be pretty.

Indeed. "Safety" and "botch" is not a good combination!

Another one that'd be far better with an advisory speed limit sign.

Besides, nobody's going to "cut their speed" (or even "reduce speed now") 200 yards away, especially when the road is completely straight there.

When the Heartlands Parkway/Fort Parkway opened, so getting on for 15 years ago. Modern equivalent should read "B4114".

A nice polite sign on Westray. Also, I didn't actually realise there were any speed bumps or traffic calming on the outer isles of Orkney, but it seems Westray has some outside its school. We managed perfectly fine without any on Sanday, at least! I think they have now put a 40mph limit outside Sanday School, though. But, I digress...
