M25: "For EAST ANGLIA follow M11"

All subsequent signs offer you M11(S) and M11(N) in different lanes...

More road marking error then sign error but saw this classic in Guildford this morning. Straight on to where the bus stop. I think a triangle may be the marking which was required.

I wonder if there is/was an issue with people turning right from the main road, passing in front of the traffic island and going the wrong way on that part of the road? That would also explain the second "keep left" bollard angled so it's visible to right-turners approaching the junction.

Instead of a stupid island there it would have made more sense to tighten up the radius so the junction was relatively narrow. That layout is just pants.

While we're on dodgy road markings, I recently became acquainted with Pawsons Road in LB Croydon, where the white lines appear to have been painted by someone with vertigo.

This is possibly the worst bit, though it continues in that fashion for most of the length of the road. The street itself is ruler-straight.

I think the intention was to mark the lanes in such a way that they curved around the marked parking bays on the right of that picture, which come and go in blocks with bollards at each end. Unfortunately the effect is lost because there's no parking control on the opposite side, so the white lines just swerve drunkenly into the side of a line of parked cars over and over again.

In reality traffic ignores the lines and uses the road for what it is - a single-file double-parked street with passing places.

That's a classic example of the type of road that does NOT need a centre line.

It would be better and, I dare say, safer without one.

As it is the line is misleading because it shows a line that can never be followed in practice, and which is more wildly swerving than any real driver would contemplate. It does more to encourage swerving unthinkingly into parked cars than it does to separate traffic.

The missing bit has migrated north to M11 junction 8.

I don't know if it's the angle but it looks like that sign has a white border which is a major no-no.

BTW it looks like it had an except buses plate in 2012.

Spotted this one the other day on Elland Road, Leeds.

It looks like a misprint: not only does the A645 not go anywhere near Huddersfield, it doesn't meet any roads within Leeds, and lies entirely outside the district!

The symbol is wrong too, the car should have a grille and headlights, so feel free to use the bus stop!

The sign was probably correct when installed - I think it was the original Worboys design?

This sign has been replaced in the last 2 weeks and while the layout has improved the A322 which was correct has suddenly become the A332. I have not been able to take a picture as I have been driving. But do anyone at the HE proof read there new signs before putting them up.

Putting "A218" instead of "B218" is one thing, but "5th Circular" for "Sth Circular"?!

Fortunately the sign is so minute, and so lost among the thicket of other signs on the post, that no passing motorist could read it anyway.

It's also a flag sign used well in advance of a junction :bang:
