Re: Botched Roadsigns
They've dug a hole on a pavement near me. This pavement is about 15 feet from the road, behind a wide verge.
This apparently requires them to stick a 'men at work' sign in the road, at a point where it is already too narrow for two cars to pass.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
It should have a much longer stalk on the road you are actually approaching on, and just a stub on the other road.Durham1950 wrote:Looking at the sign I can't see how you can tell which of the two roundabouts you are approaching. My initial reading is that I am approaching the one on the left (because we read left to right) How SHOULD the sign be laid out so that it is obvious I am approaching the right-hand one?
Re: Botched Roadsigns
I expect this kind of rubbish on industrial estates, etc but not on a proper road.
Would there be any sort of liability on the idiot who put the wrong sign in if a collision occured due to someone assuming priority?

Re: Botched Roadsigns
The 40 signs at the start of the temporary limit on Sheffield Parkway at J33 are in a non standard font. I hope any speeding tickets issued are null and void
How would you like your grade separations, Sir?

Re: Botched Roadsigns
Looks like Wokingham BC has wonky brackets for there keep left signs on the roundabout as shown here. These were all replaced early this year and erected like this.
Other roundabouts either side of this junction are fine.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
This is a botch, and a bloody dangerous one at that.
The widening works here are now complete, the signs shown are still in place. I approached in lane 3 intending to get on to the M42 north. Unfortunately the subsequent lane markings don't assist you properly on to the slip lane which resulted in a pretty unpleasant altercation with some Bertie wishing to offer me on to the hard shoulder.
This seems to be happening disturbingly often on local HA "remedial" schemes (The A5 at Weeford roundabout is another case in point), I fear someone out there isn't carrying out the simple but necessary checking procedures...

Re: Botched Roadsigns
They've done it at J10 as well. Signs and road markings that don't match up.
I expected them to fix it by the time they'd tidied up the cones, but the situation remains 6 months on.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
I proposed some sign changes as part of a Pinch Point scheme and was smacked down.

Long stalk: check.
Not sending traffic counterclockwise round the second one: hmm ...
Re: Botched Roadsigns
Streetview is slightly out of date, but this is now three lanes.
The heights are 16'-6" on Lane 1 and 2 and 16' on lane 3. The warning sign is now on the nearside only and the bridge itself has no markings. That sign could easily be hidden behind another vehicle and before you know it your 16'-3" trailer is having a haircut...

Re: Botched Roadsigns
IIRC the minimum height for a sign is 2.1m on a footway, and 2.3m recommended.multiraider2 wrote:Can I nominate this road name sign. There's nothing actually wrong with it, other than its bottom edge being just under 6'3'' (or 1.905 m) from the ground

I drove through 'the most dangerous junction in the world' this evening, and wondered just how I am supposed to pass this combination legally :

Presumably you're entitled to make either movement?
Surely it would be better to have a no left turn symbol instead.

Re: Botched Roadsigns
There are green filter arrows matching the signs. But the signs as they stand order me to go straight ahead AND to the right.

Conflicting turn arrows on traffic lights is a speciality of TfL, they absolutely love doing that
