Words fail me. One of the busiest junctions in the city and they want to do this to it. Madness.

Arguably the immediate area around the Station is a total s***hole so anything that encourages people into it is welcome.

Through traffic shouldn't even be on Fishergate, a shopping street like that should be far more pedestrian friendly - the number of vehicles passing through Avenham and Winckley Square just gums up the area so perhaps some major capacity changes to Ringway are required - particularly along the A6/A59 multiplex where things get very congested.

Perhaps the imminent demolition of the bus station could be used as a basis for some improvements here.

When I started driving in the 90's Preston was one of the best places to drive around. The A6 was entirely 40 through the city, the A59, A5085, A5072 and B5411 were also 40 for the majority of their lengths through the city too. The whole city is now a speed hump 20mph traffic calmed shambles. It's a disgrace what the council have been allowed to get away with

Fishergate itself - well overdue, horrible environment to try shopping in and getting around - always feels like you've been penned in and no real reason for it. Never feels like much of the traffic there has a reason to be, just needs some better routing from the car parks down that side of town.

Fishergate Hill and Corporation street - Hmm, that's still going be be rather busy with all the traffic coming in from Liverpool and Penwortham isn't it? Improving the pedestrian links from the train station would be nice though.

Interesting to see on the renders that the trees will be ghosty and you can walk though them

Fishergate Hill is 2 lanes outbound and a bus lane inbound so everyone from the west is forced onto Guild Way or Strand Road.

Of course - durh! I normally travel into the city on the bus so forgot that.

Heading "inbound" in the car is normally leaving the Railway station and heading down corpy street, which of course is open to cars by that point.
