Well did a trip to London this afternoon - well heathrow, but thats splitting hairs.

M6 M6 M42 M40 M25 M4

M6 went pretty well good drive - M40 closer you got to London faster the traffic seemed to go - At one point sitting at 80 and being passed at much faster speeds - loads of Landrovers and Mercs about being driven at hypersonic speeds. Also noted further south you get the worse the driving became - nearly side swiped by a dozy asian in a honda trying to get to the M40 from the roundabout she was in lane three and tried to make a push to the M40 slip which resulted in some serious reactions on my part to stop a side swipe - her oblivious to it all as she trundled on...

M25 number of people trying to force in to the M4 slip at last minute - like were sitting there to make the turn if you think Im going to make a space for you when you knew the traffic was backed up then sorry - pretty abysmal driving and it seems to be getting worse. Looking forward to a quick bat up to the olympic area tomorrow evening and a run round the east of London before heading back to Heathrow and the hotel.

Have developed a hatred for minicabs being driven by asian guys who go where ever they want without checking mirrors and such ! crazy place to try and drive indeed.

It's Ramadan. Muslim cab drivers will be doing without food and drink during daylight hours. This will affect their driving, and not in a good way.

Surely if anyone is not in a fit state to drive they shouldn't. It puts theirs and others' lives at risk.

This is why whenever I need to drive anywhere south of Manchester I plan it so that I drive at night, arrive before the morning peak, get a few hours rest then do what I have to do. I once drove out of London at 1500, got onto the M6 around 1700 and didnt get up to Preston till around 2100, never again! I know that if I leave my house at midnight I can be in London by 0700 (0600 if I floor it), Brum by 0500 and Manchester around 0330. If I leave at 9am I might not reach London till well after 1800.

I have to say though, the VSL cameras on the M1 North of the M25 has helped a great deal with slowing down those mentalists doing 120mph.

Trip completed and have to say the further south you go the worse the driving gets....

never liked driving in london it just felt like an accident waiting to happen, still went from Heathrow into London and up through Piccadilly and round nelsons column out to the river and along the embankment and then up the A12 to stratford back in on the A11 round the inner ring past tussauds and then the old A40(M) M41 and then towards hammersmith and onto the A4....busy busy busy indeed.

drove back up on the saturday and difference is still there roads work better through the week than at a weekend. again number of people that try to change lanes without looking...shocking indeed
