I have a feeling this has been covered before, but I couldn't find the relevant thread in teh Archive.

I was very suprised when multimap told me teh best way from Cheddar to Raglan was via Gloucestershire, so I added in Chepstow as a via, and still it went via Gloucester. It even took me via Gloucester when going from Aust to Chepstow.

Does multimap know something about the Severn bridges that I don't? Or is it just a fault on their system?

Chris

Is there an option, like on the AA, to avoid tolls ? as that seems the obvious reason why it wants to go via Gloucester.

There is no option to avoid certain stretches of road (e.g. tolled roads) on the multimap system - the only way you can force it away from certain routes is by adding vias. There isn't much in the way of places between Aust and Chepstow!

Did you report it to them via the link at the bottom of the directions list?

Ive had some weirdness out of Multimap directions... sending me off a motorway, through a town and back on the same motorway!
While I use Multimap to view maps I found a copy of MS Autoroute did alot better job of directions :)

... But then Autoroute is hardly perfect, is it!? (Although, for all I know, more recent editions may be better.)
A system that steadfastly refuses to acknowledge the existence of the A303 - pick two points between the M3 at Lightwater and Exeter and it will try and send you via Bristol, or if not then along the rather slow and unsuitable A372/A378 via Langport.
My particular favorite was when, confirming a mileage claim for a colleague, Autoroute suggested the best route from Lympstone, Devon to Portsmouth was via the M5, M4, A34, M3 and M27. Mad! A guess Autoroute is very good for anyone wishing to make fraudulent travel claims.
