Was once a numbered road, now goes nowhere ... but where is it?

Truvelo rule + 30 mile rule applies.

The Truvelo rule isn't needed as I haven't a clue where it is.

Now lets see Nic's reaction to seeing a 1 reply by Truvelo

Hmm, obviously a clue needed.

The numbered road that this was once a part of still exists, and one end is still in the same place.

Think - why do through routes become no-through-roads?

Sorry truv, I came late to the thread.

I'm imagining that its blocked off by a Motorway. I thought it could be the ex-A41 between Solihull and Knowle, but t doesn't seem to fit at all.

The addition of the warning! Cyclists!, suggests that we are looking toward the motorway, and there is pedestrian access over the motorway, which would also allow cyclists. (I mean a bridge, or subway, probably bridge)

Close?

Tim - sorry, no.

Nic - not a motorway.

No more? OK, another clue. The road reappears the other side of the severance.

(Oh, and Nic, you were right about the pedestrian/cycleway. In this case it's a tunnel).

OK here's a wild guess then. As I know you have a connection with the north east, is the road you're crossing the A19 at Jarrow? Google shows at least one cycle tunnel around there though I admit I'm not familiar with the area. Right sort of area?

Sorry, miles out. Think closer to home - a lot closer.

Meanwhile, I'm just off to France for 3 days - for work, rather than pleasure, and may not be able to check back in, so keep posting the deductions and I'll respond on Wednesday.

So, close to home, to me, says I'm looking around the West Midlands, but not at a motorway.

However, its got to be a pretty busy road, otherwise it would just meet at a junction.

The street lamps look pretty new, so the DC would also be pretty new.

Anywhere near?

West Midlands, yes. Pretty new? Depends on your definition, but it's post-war for a start.

Just to be clear, the road you are looking at is severed by the "new" DC, and the picture is looking towards the blind end.

I'm still stumped. Can I ask a few questions.

Is the road that separates this road a (numbered) dual carriageway?

And this road used to be numbered, but isn't at all any more, but the number it used to be, still has the same starting point?

Is it within the M42/M5/M6 box?

This one is really annoying me. It looks familiar but I can't place it.
