Probably going to get howls from certain quarters, but given we're clearly keen on listing classified routes... can we do similar for the NCN? Obviously we haven't got a category for these routes at the moment but I'm happy to make a start on the page if others want to flesh it out.

Is anyone able to create the route category for NCN? I take it the technically minded can do it?

Watch this space...

Previous discussion

In terms of making it the most complex thing to do need to make a white-text, red-background ncn type for the routebox (like primary, etc) with the auto categorisation. Not hard, but the template is protected.

I'd start off with a list Bryn, and pages come later.

I propose the following conventions:

The page names should be in the format <number>(NCN)
The category should be [[Category:National Cycle Network]] (and yes anyone can make it)
The pages should go in the categories of the A and B roads the route might run along, as well as (obviously) county and place categories.

Wouldn't NCNx be better?

I've written the initial gateway page, as Haydn alluded to back in 2009, with a link to Sustrans' page.

I'll let you guys make it link in, I usually make a hash of that

Steven, with the abolition of NCN Regional Routes, I agree we should be using NCN x. Officially it would be NCN Route 1, but the use of Route in the Wiki title is just pedantic really.

Yep, that makes more sense.

I've changed {{Routebox Sandbox}} to accommodate the type, but can't move that to {{Routebox}}.

I'll leave it for now, and try to combine it and the final version of Ritchie's changes to the mapping in one move to prevent the job queue exploding.

Yes.

Added Bryn's page to the Main Page.

That explains why Ritchie was manually running the job queue earlier.

I need to make a bugfix to the template (thanks to Vlad for noticing) so I can incorporate these changes now.

Excellent.

I posted a big long list of three-digit routes to the Wikipedia NCN pages the other week - feel free to do whatever you want with it (might be useful for stub pages, for example).
