Myself and the missus are planning a trip to Switzerland later in the year. Probably Zermatt as we've been there before for a day or two and it was nice. Anyway, route currently looks like Dunkirk > Reims > Dijon > Lausanne give or take. We're thinking of stopping in Reims on the way back. What about on the way down? Something around Dijon area probably makes sense, but is there much there? We'll only have a morning to potter about before heading off but if there's somewhere recommended on that part of the trip it would be good.

I've previously done this Germany going via Belguim > Germany, but it's quite a bit further - but I wasn't with the wife then and a visit to Stuttgart called :)

You will have trouble parking your car in Zermatt... It's a car free town

Well aware of that, my car has frequented the carpark in Tasch on a couple of occasions previously :)

Dijon would probably be OK for an overnighter. There isn't a lot there, but it's nice enough in the centre to keep you happy for a few hours.

There probably isn't anywhere else in that area with anything more to see to be honest.

If you are happy to avoid too many autoroutes (and save on the peage), Strasbourg is an interesting place (though a full days driving from Peterborough).
