Rouen Roadworks

Post by m11ldncam »

Coming back through Rouen at the weekend and noticed that on the A13 between the 2 parts of junc 23 there is a massive overbridge/tunnel being constructed pointing sort of in the direction of SE Rouen and then having left the A13 at 22 and heading in towrds Rouen just before the "Cows" roundabout there are signs of a new road merging in.

There was a sign up giving details of the works but as I was concentrating on the approach to the roundabout plus my French is not yet up to speed reading sign like these standards could not make out what is the paln here.

I am assuming it is to make a new free flowing link from the A13 into the D2 road heading alongside the railway yards and warehouses. Is it also a precursor of a more ambitious plan to perhaps build an eastern bypass round Rouen and link to the A28 that way. I think I read on the forum that the plan was to link up the 2 parts of the A28 with a western bypass. Whatever there is still the problem of the massive chalk hill to be crossed along with the Seine.

Any info would be great. Thanks

Sounds like the southern rocade to connect to the new bridge being built near the A150.

I'll have a look in a few weeks when we go and return from France, we usually go that way.

OK... they're actually working on reconfiguring the A139-A13 interchange.

And here's what will be the interchange once work is completed

Thanks for that, the map shows it clearly.

The roadworks near the "Cows" roundabout after leaving A13 -J22 Oissel are obviously unconnected and me putting 2+2 to make the proverbial 5

Luchar - interesting link; I take it the locals are finally fed up of the left-side exit and such?

That junction has always surprised me given it was built the wrong way around - although I know the A13 ended there for a long while.

And Rouen will built a new bridge (you probably heard the news), but the connections with the A150 to the north and the Sud III Expressway to the south will be made with cheap-and-cheerful roundabouts, as you say.

Went through the A139/A13 split on the way down to our destination and coming back.

All the gantries have been removed between July 14 and today. There was an enormous queue (obviously post Bastille-Day traffic fleeing Paris) so I got good shots of the gantry signs, but the bridge being built over the A139 is impossible to photograph easily.

The four lane merging section before Oissel interchange is now marked as 3 lanes only, which has caused some minor congestion.

Hopefully something bigger will emerge to bypass it altogether..... It was actually a good route back from the south this year, from Limoges to Poitiers then A10/A28/A16..... Only issues we had were actually getting through Rouen - but that's small fry compared with driving through Paris!
