Final competition of the year - which picture should adorn the masthead for December?

The album is here:

http://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/gallery/t ... ?album=503

Don't forget there are 13 entries, with one on Page 2.

Voting will last for 7 days and close at approx. 8.30 pm on Friday 30 November.

Really difficult to choose this month. In the end I went for Truvelo's picture because it is different from some of those that have won recently.

I think December's POTM must have a snowy scene, and I think BT's picture is better than mine so I went for his.

I always miss this! Presumably I now have to wait and then upload a photo to the January 2008 POTM album. So, when does it get created?

Unless the SMT collectively forget, nominations typically open 14 days before the end of the month, and the poll starts 7 days before the end of the month.

So in December, nominations for January will open on the 17th and the poll begin on the 24th (although I might bring that forward by a day as I won't be around on the 24th).

And both were posted as Announcements this month to help people spot them :P

Of all the POTM polls I've voted in, this was the hardest. M1's, M4 Simon's and jcpren's photos were, imo, the best but they all deserved to win.

I can only assume that Gavin voted for jcpren's picture then, as no one has voted for mine :-(

Can't grumble too much - I did quite well last month :-)

Don't fall off your chair when I say this but I'm obviously not on here often enough anymore to have noticed!

As Peter said, remember page 2, folks! ;)

(Not getting many views compared to the rest, but grateful for the votes received so far!)

Second page noted  !

It’s probably been the best selection of pictures for me for a good couple of months! If it wasn’t for the time of year, it would have been a very difficult choice for me, probably amongst the hardest I’ve voted in. Given the fact the winning picture is for December though, I would also personally like a snowy scene for the festive period too.

Therefore it was a choice between Mullacott Cross and Snow on the A1001. Both excellent pictures. In the end, David’s Mullacott Cross was the winner for me. I think it would suit space perfectly. I’m also only used to seeing this roundabout bathed in sunshine on my holidays, so to see it covered in snow in winter is certainly different :) !

I've only just noticed the vote now!

Some good images here this month.
Personally I'm not too sure about the "december MUST have a snowy image" thought, because in most places we don't get any snowfall that stays until at least the second week of january.

Thanks all three who've for mine so far! :D

I liked yours (and voted for it). Any way, you've got nothing to grumble about. At least you've got some votes this month ;-)

The December POTM is now up (hit Refresh if you are still seeing November's POTM; I am travelling at the moment, and indeed posting from Seville, so I haven't had a chance to test the workaround which was suggested earlier this month for eliminating the need to refresh).

In view of the heated discussion which has taken place in SABRE regarding cyclists over the past month, I was strongly tempted to crop down BigToe's picture so that only the cycle warning sign was visible against a backdrop of falling snow. But I was not able to manage this and still keep the road surface in the picture, so I opted for a more conservative crop.

It is through such chances and accidents that the peace of SABRE is preserved.
