Wouldn't have thought so, if Richie G and David B have to PM. Zone 3, and in Devon somewhere, probably the north.

It's good but it's not right.

Devon actually! It's the A39 at Barbrook. I use it every year on my Devon holidays and will be doing so again this September. It’s on the way to Lynton & Lynmouth - only a few miles away. We always take that turning (Barbrook Road) and then up Station Hill. I can't reccomend enough what it means to have a good clutch and brakes around here!

Haymansafc has got it right it is Barbrook. The irony of that location is that the B3234 is a much quicker route into Lynmouth than the A39 albeit it comes with some steep gradients and three escape lanes.

I've another quick location for you to crack. Likewise if you're Truvelo please PM. Due to its varied difficulty I'll give it an hour or more. 8-)

Is it in Ilfracombe?

I’ve always used it as when we visit there we usually park in the Church Hill car park. If not, we usually manage to find somewhere along Lee Road on the approach. I think I’ve only ever continued along the A39 once, several years ago for a change, and it was considerably slower. The only real problem going in this way (if you can call it that) is this very nasty bend, which is on a very steep gradient. Heading back out towards the A39 you’ll be going uphill as well as a very sharp left. It’s usually a double-de-clutch back down into first gear here. Second can be a bit of a struggle if you can’t go round it wide. Overall, it’s a beautiful area of Exmoor, one of my favourites.

I’m thinking along the same lines too. This seems familiar to me and the lampposts and gradients would more or less match for Ilfracombe too. Could be co-incidence though.

If it’s Ilfracome, it looks like the Wilder Road / Northfield Road / Bath Place crossroads. It seems too quiet though and that car park too tight from memory :? ? Could be the angle of the picture. I’m not 100% sure on this to be honest.

I'll tell you now that you're spot on. The photo is taken from the entrance to the Tunnels Beaches. I think the angle of the picture does make the car park look smaller than it actually is.

Nice and easy - about a one minute walk from my house!

Halstead - you didn't happen to head up onto the Torrs, did you? If so, you'll almost certaintly have walked past my house - and if not we'd probably have seen each other at some point without realising it. :P

That was an inspired guess given that I've never been to Ilfracombe :D - but the architecture is very definitely "South-West coastal resort".

Pity I didn't buy a lottery ticket today :|

Hehe I knew David and a few others got this right it is Ilfracombe. David I've no clue of what the Torrs are; I visisted the tunnels behind me; walked down to the Co-op on the right before travelling forward up the road to the Tardis Bar where I assume the A361 and A399 meet.

That’s two correct answers in a row from me :D ! I'm doing well!

I thought it looked very familiar, but the angle of the camera and lack of traffic threw me. I’m used to queuing at these traffic lights on Wilder Road on my way to and from our usual parking place on the Harbour car park. If I'm not queuing, I rarely manage more than 15-20mph!

I was actually going to say if I was right that you’d be within minutes of this picture. Pan the camera to the right a little and we’d probably see you  ! I’ve never actually been up The Torrs before. It’s about the only small corner of Ilfracombe left I haven’t either driven around or walked around, ironically.

I hope Halstead has more pictures from North Devon - I’ll give some more answers! With it being practically my second home after close to 14 years worth of holidays down there at Croyde Bay (Moor Lane - you’ll know where  ), as I said, I struggle to think of anywhere where I haven’t been down there. Maybe the odd remote country lane in Dartmoor perhaps or some small, remote village in the far east of the county maybe....

We almost did the year before last, if you remember! I told you of our usual walk around Ilfracombe on a particular morning, staying fairly close to the car park and we found out that whilst I was leaving, you were at the crazy golf (I think) which I’d just passed less than ten minutes earlier! We must have passed each other. Last year was a bit of a disaster - fairground on the car park, so Ilfracombe was sadly a ‘drive though’ on the way to Lynton & Lynmouth last year :( . Hoping there isn't anything planned there during the week 13th - 20th September when I'm down again - otherwise it's going to be parking in a side street for me, or looking out for you!

It’s lovely down there Peter - it’s the reason why I keep on going back yearly (well almost - I’ve missed out two visits in those near 14 years!) and to the same place (even the same caravan on occasions, I’ll admit too  ). This year we’re staying in the one next door to the one we had last year. As long as you avoid it at peak periods where it can get vastly overcrowded, I’ll happily recommend North Devon to anyone. I prefer the north of the county to the south.

It’s also very good from a roads point of view, particularly the A39 through Exmoor. I know David and I tend to disagree on this next one, but I thoroughly enjoy using the NDLR too (although yes, I managed to find heavy 40mph traffic heading east towards South Molton on our way home last year). Then you have the A3123, B3227, A386 and A377 which I’ve always fond of too.

Right here's another tricky one to crack. PM me if you're Truvelo and I'll give out some clues later on if necessary.

I think it's Woody Bay Station in Exmoor on the Lynton and Barnstaple Steam Railway?

I think I've seen something very like that on the A39 between Blackmoor Gate and Lynton. Could it be by the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway at Martinhoe Cross?

You are both very close but unfortunately the answer is still incorrect. However DavidBrown has given me the exact answer so far.
