Yes, Owen did indeed get there first, it is on Mull, at the point where I turned off and pedalled down to Lochbuie on the shore. 37miles from Craignure & back, but fortunately my inner tube waited until I was back at Craignure before it burst!

Fair enough, but where is it?

There were a few Yellow ones, but not all of them that I passed on the line. What was more interesting about this particular one was the pair of ripped paint splattered overalls hanging from the barbed wire, and the abandoned tin of paint lying at the base. I therefore initially wondered if it was some sort of prank... (but there were more yellow ones later).

It just screams "Bath" to me?

Not Bath, not even near Bath, not even within 300 miles of Bath.
Does that help narrow it down?

It narrows it down to a point that I'm unlikely to know it :)

Evidently a clue or two is needed. The photo was taken within the largest conurbation in Scotland. It is an Axxx road.

I would have said the A81 in Milngavie were it not for the fact that your previous post implies it's a 3-digit road.

The "Other danger" signs at the side roads and set-back Give Way lines scream East Dunbartonshire anyway. The A81 also has parking and red-surfaced bike lanes in a similar arrangement.

 That should have been Axx, sorry. Yes it is the A81 heading north into Milngavie.

Ok, here's a new one. Where have I been today? And what should the sign read?

It's on the A82 north of Loch Leven : Corran Ferry / Fort William / Inverness.

Owen does it again :D You even beat Truvelo by 3 whole minutes, although if he had been more specific on his first PM he could have had it ages ago.

To be honest Truvelo handed it to me on a plate. Once the clue about it being bilingual was posted (which hadn't occurred to me, though it should have done) it was narrowed down hugely - it was almost certainly Scotland and there are very few primary routes in the bilingual areas where any destination could be 78 miles away on the same road number. Once I'd ruled out the A9 and the A87 it pretty much had to be the A82. I suppose it might have sub-consciously helped that I've been to Fort William at least three times in recent years Munro-bagging so have passed that sign several times.

The wide spacing of the numbers is the giveaway of it being bi-lingual and as Owen mentioned the 78 mile destination narrows things down and I instantly thought of Inverness.

Halmyre and Novaecosse have pm'd me with right answers. Anyone else? Truvelo's given quite a big clue already, but not actually made a guess!
