Nominations for Photo of the Month for May 2012 are now closed.

The photo which wins the contest will be displayed in full on the SABRE index page and cropped to fit the "banner" in the top right for the duration of the month.

The only rule is that the photo, and any subsequent work, must be entirely your own. Photos where this is evidently not the case will not be accepted for voting.

Only one entry per person will be accepted.

If you think another member's photo is suitable then please encourage them to enter it.

To enter a photo, then please use this link to add it to the gallery. Make sure that the gallery is still ticked before submitting it.

You can view the current gallery contents here.

If you need any help adding one of your photos, please ask in this thread.

To allow sufficient time to upload and vote for photos in time for me to edit the site, nominations will close on 23rd April, at around 9pm. The poll will be created shortly afterwards. Voting will then be open until 30th April, after the poll has closed the photo will appear on the site within a few days.

Are we able to ban Scottish photos and bridge photos this month? ;) That said Burns' overblown bridge photo was nice, but I am of the opinion that there's a Northern bias currently. All five posts went to people "oop Norf", with three of those going to Scotsmen.

Not that I've anything against the officers, but I'm concerned the Grampians, and indeed all of Scotland and Northern England will end up in the sea if a picture from "oop Norf" is POtM. :P

As there are generally more northern members, is this a surprise?

Also, rileyrob is not AFAIK Scottish, but from the south of England. Bang goes your theory. :P

I'm not from Scotland either, my mum is from Lincolnshire and my dad is from Yorkshire. I've just lived here since I was 1.

Yes - foreign roads pictures are often nominated - though I don't recall one winning the vote yet.

February and May 2011 were foreign roads winners.

Right, I've had enough of northern and Scottish PoTM entries - so I've done a London one for you!

I reckon your current avatar would stand a pretty good chance too. Personally I prefer photos with a blue sky.

Unfortunately, I'm not on the west coast very often so I have to take what I can get. That photo is better though.

(Mine was May. I think it helps if the road looks kinda, anywhere-ish. Foreign is fine, if it looks like it could've been taken in Skegness, or Penrith)

Does it win a prize for the most frequently entered picture?

They can if they receive the highest number of votes. There have been loads of foreign entries, but only two have ever won, see: Photo of the Month Nominations 2011

There are no rules on the subject of the photos entered, it is ultimately up to the people voting to decide what they want to see on the front page and banner.

Nominations are now closed and the poll is open. It looks like I've set it up right, but as this is my first time please be nice if anything is wrong!
