It's going to be interesting to see what happens but I'm pretty sure traffic is going to bottle neck on Canvey Way resulting in the traffic piling up on the roundabout, but we'll see.

I thought that slip road was going to roundabout to feed both benfleet and canvey, is that not the case?

me too...im still struggling to work it out....and ive spent hours contemplating it from my motor every evening....

I cant see how Benfleet people are going to get to Benfleet other wise.

Surely they go over pitsea, get in left hand land and take the slip road over the bridge down to roundabout with the Canvey folk.

In which case all of the traffic thats queueing for the roundabout now less the A130 bound traffic (say 30%) will all be going over that one lane slip road.

Doesnt sound enough to me.

my inlaws tell me it was one big roundabout years ago and it didnt work then...

this has got "fail" written all over it!!

If you look at the original drawings it would almost definitely indicate that the link from the A13 to Canvey Way will be 2 lanes, although in reality it looks nowhere near wide enough.

No, just Canvey traffic. People travelling to Benfleet will have to navigate the roundabout the normal way, so they would approach the roundabout in the left hand lane while traffic for Canvey will stick right and take the road that has been built through the actual roundabout.

I take it that's what you mean, or have we got our wires crossed?

Yep certainly looks like two lanes.

Thats a relief !

Agree that at moment it doesnt look like two lane width so might be a squeeze with two lorries!

The part I was referring to was the bit on the A13 eastbound where you turn off to go up to the new bridge.

I can see how they are splitting the traffic which seems ok.

It does look like the end of the tunnel is at least visible now, by those dates it would appear in two weeks things will improve greatly.
I assume Benfleet > A130 have to traverse the whole roundabout now which seems a bit convoluted.

looks like benfleet gets two lanes and canvey one, although one of the benfleet lanes looks like it goes to old A13,might be some cutting into the roundabout there.Oh it is going to be fun.,would have been simpler to build an underpass to tarpots surely ?

Tarpots is the end of the line, no point building an underpass to take people an extra 300 yards when they have to stop anyway.

The underpass to the A130 is ideal.

Shame they couldnt get a non stop flow to Canvey.

So much for the underpass helping :

A13
From: Stanford-le-Hope Bypass To: Salders Farm Roundabout
stationary traffic for 5.3 km, with a delay of 25 min.

From: A176 To: Salders Farm Roundabout
stationary traffic for 6.0 km, with a delay of 31.5 min.

Looks like a 20 mile detour again tonight then.

Currently stuck in the usual long traffic at the roundabout under the Pitsea flyover. The new road appears to had no affect at all. This is all being caused by Tarpots being closed down to one lane.

Utter rubbish!

Just driven along the northbound link road. Trouble is hardly anyone is using it. It is signposted at 1/2then 1/4 mile, but as you say most traffic is stuck due to Tar pots.

I guess most people who would use link road are already diverting into A127 by either taking the M25 or A128, or finding any other route around there like thru Basildon or from Billericay to Wickford or via A12.

Recorded a video driving thru the link which I will try to upload shortly

These frigging roadworks at Sadlers Farm are a joke! It's taken me 35 mins to get from five bells to pitsea.

So much for improving.....

You must have drove past me Runwell as I was in the southbound queue. You're right, in the 20 minutes I sat looking at the underpass I only saw a handful cars using it.

Let's give it a chance, it's only been open a day and I imagine most are unaware of it. Let's see how the week unfolds.....
