Not sure if this is the right terminology. Had a look at help and the first four pages of the 23 pages of topics but couldn't find what I'm after.

Here goes.

As of today, the Riverside Roundabout in Dundee is no more.

It has a page in the wiki.

Now, I can edit the page to explain that this roundabout no longer exists, but I feel that there should be more to it.

Shouldn't there be some sort of 'flag' that this refers to a no longer in existence bit of infrastructure? Should it still feature in 'junctions on the A85' and 'Other nearby junctions'?

I presume that the map image is grabbed from google as and when it's needed. In a few years time this imagery will be updated and that which we see now will be gone. Should we / can we grab an image to show what it was like or can we link to some historical part of google images?

Flagging is best done by an appropriate category. We have Defunct Roads so why not Defunct Junctions? Though I am reluctant to create a new category unless it is likely to get more than one page as content.

You are right the google map image will go out of date. You could link to a SABRE historical map if one has the roundabout, failing that a photo of it as it is would be in order.

The other option if the new junction is notable enough to deserve a page, is for this content to be amended and moved to a history section on the new page and then marked for deletion. Assuming the new junction is a straight replacement I would prefer this option to be honest!

If the new junction is not notable could it fit in the history section of the A85 and dispense with a junction page entirely?

Just some ideas......

Could one assume it is notable, simply for it having been notable (IYSWIM).

I agree that this would be the best option. How would we deal with the naming as the new junction is (as far as I can tell) a simple three arm signal junction and thus would not be called Riverside Roundabout?

type= defunct in the infobox, some changes to the body to tell you that the junction isn't current.

I've had a quick go - I'm sure it could be done better in the text.

Arguably, the junction is still there, just in a different configuration - therefore not defunct. I'd just rewrite the page, consigning the previous layout to the history section, and moving the page to a new title if need be.

Thanks for all the advice, especially Si for getting it started for me.

This is what I've gone for.
