Past and Present99 viewsLooking west at the point where the old A30 out of Bodmin joins the new to become the e/bnd c/way for about a mile, to the end of the D2. There is an earlier junction out of Bodmin as well.SteveA30 (wikified)

Road narrows105 viewsFormer A30 near east end of Indian Queens bypass, where it becomes a footpath. At the far end, a roadworks sign can be seen, where the existing D2 meets the new Goss Moor bit, crossing the route of the old, which was straight on towards Victoria.SteveA30 (wikified)

A38 Services65 viewsLooking north at the services. Other old garage visible between the signs. The M5 from J22-23 opened in August 1973, at the height of the holiday season. One day heaving with traffic, the next day... like this.SteveA30 (wikified)

A3881 viewsThe top of Whiteball hill and, the start of the D2 behind me. Possible very old original route on right coming out of the village.SteveA30 (wikified)

Link to M571 viewsThe northern half of the bypass was itself bypassed in Oct 75, when the M5 opened to J30, via this freeflow link. The bit I have just done was bypassed in May 77, when the final stretch to J31 opened, ending Exeter's famous part in road history.SteveA30 (wikified)

New A30226 viewsLooking west along the new road on Aug 2 1999. It opened on Aug 6, around 7am, from M5 to just west of B3177, where it crossed the old. They were going flat out to finish this, much earlier than scheduled, because Prescott had decided to get it open before the total eclipse the following week.SteveA30 (wikified)

A35 Upton bypass, Jan 2 2010133 viewsThe first divvy of 2010, which I caught as it happened. Heading for Poole, we were taken off at the A350 rbt, because of ice related accidents and sent into Upton, which was solid all the way to Poole. I turned back along the old A35, stopping for this pic.SteveA30Jan 04, 2010 (wikified)

Old A3550 viewsStopping in Lytchett Minster, I had a coffee at this pub and watched the saga unfold.SteveA30Jan 04, 2010 (wikified)

Old A35 Westbound36 viewsThe e/bnd side reopened, allowing me to continue to Poole unobstructed. However, this caused the diverting w/bnd traffic to back up, as the A35/A351 rbt now had a stream of traffic heading for the D2, blocking off their exit from the old road. See a map for clarity.SteveA30Jan 04, 2010 (wikified)
