Exeter bypass!72 viewsAfter crossing the modern A377 link to the modern A30, the road gets lost in a housing development at Alphington, with access blocked from the west. The only clue is a Dawlish Road nameboard. as it may have been the A379 in pre-bypass days. After avoiding all that, it is back to the A30 part of the bypass. Recent resurfacing has taken place but, the double white lines can just be made out.SteveA30 (wikified)

Exeter bypass!70 viewsComing round Knowle Hill. The bypass was really only built for the A38 and, the A30 had to use existing roads after parting from the A38, hence this narrow stretch, which must have been hell for lorries trying to pass each other.SteveA30 (wikified)

A30/A388, April 2009112 viewsStanding roughly in the same area, the old A30 more or less followed the off-slip here and then, the on-slip opposite. The corner of the crossroads is about the only point of reference in the two. The D2 is up on the right, soaring over the lot. SteveA30 (wikified)

Pre-war A30, Launceston, March 200980 viewsThis was a 2 way street into the 1970's at least. All 4 arms were in use and, a well known local policeman directed traffic all day in the 60's and, had a smile for everyone.SteveA30 (wikified)
