Early pre-Worboys no through road, Whitton67 viewsOn Crane Park Road is an earlier type of no through road, complete with (partially painted over) catseyes and earlier font with a G with a tail. Although the flat 3 and plain capital G are typical pre-Worboys MOT font it is the latest one, and the earlier one has rounded 3s and Gs with tails like this one.DavidNW9 (wikified)

Belmont_signs_use.JPG
Pair of signs with third behind, Belmont, Surrey65 viewsOriginally I thought signs to specific buildings (besides stations) were not nationally issued, but all the direction signs in the area include both the Royal Marsden and Sutton hospitals, meaning they can be included on national signs as areas would if important enough.DavidNW9 (wikified)

prohibited_barcaldine.jpg
Prohibition sign at Barcaldine95 viewsA pre-Worboys prohibition sign at Barcaldine, photographed on 12 August 1991. These signs were not uncommon on minor roads in Argyll at that time. The full wording reads "Prohibited - Locomotives, heavy motor cars and all motor vehicles with seats for more than 15 persons (except vehicles being used for the conveyance of goods to or from any premises on the road or for the purposes of agriculture or forestry in connection with any land adjacent to the road)".SDL (wikified)

30_Banstead.JPG
Pre-Worboys 30 Banstead78 viewsThis is the first wooden one I've ever come across. The credentials are dubious as not standard design or font, plus the vinyl appears to be newer than the background. But I think it unlikely to be from any other source and lasted so long, although the numbers may have been replaced since being made originally.DavidNW9 (wikified)

School sign in Oban89 viewsA pre-Worboys school sign on Glencruitten Road, Oban. Photographed on 2 February, 1991. The sign, and the school, do not exist any more.SDL (wikified)

Pre-Worboys Sign on B4038 in Kilsby Close Up94 viewsA close up of the previous picture, showing the later A361 patch added in the early 70's when the route was re-classified. Originally I assume the road was a direct continuation of the B4038, but i'm happy to be proved wrong on this.CrackersA361 (wikified)

Pre-Worboys Sign on B4038 in Kilsby65 viewsShot taken from the other side of the road, the location is where the B4038 ends on the A361, shortly before the latter then terminates on the roundabout with the A5.CrackersA361 (wikified)
