New A30226 viewsLooking west along the new road on Aug 2 1999. It opened on Aug 6, around 7am, from M5 to just west of B3177, where it crossed the old. They were going flat out to finish this, much earlier than scheduled, because Prescott had decided to get it open before the total eclipse the following week.SteveA30 (wikified)

A302 County Hall208 views(Although some road markings would have you believe it's the A23) This is the former County Hall rounabout, the western leg of which is now closed so the oter legs are all two-way. Coming off Westminster Bridge, there are three lanes leading onto the next leg of the roundabout, and two for turning right. Finally there are two going the other way (the double-decker bus in the background is occupying one of them). Just beyond the bus, a third lane appears on the right, giving access to the disused leg of the roundabout, which is now a bus park. Until that point there are only four lanes coming towards us.M4Simon (wikified)

A3088 Yeovil (A37-A303) Option 3199 viewsFinally an option that reroutes the A37 through West Yeovil, taking over a central portion of the A3088 and a minor road to the North. The beauty of this route is that, unlike the present congested A37, it has the space for D2 and no property frontages. To the North it continues as a bypass of the dangerous section of A37 around Yeovil Marsh and Chilthorne Domer. To the South it continues as a bypass of Yeovil, bending SE to join the existing A37, probably at the Red House Rbt. Thanks yet again to SteveA30jackal (wikified)

Goodbye180 viewsThis is the point where you felt you really were on the road to the west, having parted from the Southampton traffic. The sign reflects the original set up, whereby the A303 didn't start at the M3 but, further down at Micheldever rbt.SteveA30 (wikified)

End of A303177 viewsLooking west. Road layout unchanged for at least 4 decades, apart from the red paint and newer signs. Nice to see such a thing these days.SteveA30 (wikified)

Sign of the times.173 viewsAnother post M3 addition. Formerly, the wide S2 just widened into a D2, with right turn lanes just before the central reservation started. No hatching or cycle lanes either.SteveA30 (wikified)

Left for the bypass169 viewsThe link from the old A30 to the old A38, left here. It was a T junction in the olden days. Original A30 went straight on into Exeter. The bridge carrying the bypass, is in the distance. Sept 14 2008SteveA30 (wikified)

A30 Inconsistant Signing168 viewsThis is a sign just 3 miles east of Camberley. Now as this is the first in this area on here, a little bit of history. In our area, the road signs never follow.
This is on a non-primary part of the A30 (Hence being in white)
Its also signing both London and Heathrow.
Problem? Simple. This is just past a turn off onto the A322 which leads just 2 miles away to the M3. So we have one of the worlds largest cities and airports signed on a non primary route when we got a 6 lane blue giant next to us.
