The Globe Roundabout on the western fringe of the city of Bath takes its name from the adjacent pub. It is the northern end of the A39, where it terminates on the A4. The fourth arm of the roundabout is Pennyquick, an unclassified route that provides a short cut to the southern suburbs of the city.
The A4 to the east, heading into Bath, was dualled many years ago as far as the fork at Newbridge. However, to the west it is still S2, awaiting the construction of a Saltford Bypass, which would link up with the Keynsham Bypass and provide a fully dualled link between the edges of Bristol and Bath. We can dream!
