Careful study of the map shown seems to suggest that the road ran along Mongers Lane, which is now little more than a footpath. Starting on the A24 Epsom Road the road ran northeastwards, crossing the A240 Reigate Road en route before ending on the A232 Cheam Road.
Ewell was bypassed in the 1930s and Mongers Lane was withdrawn as a through route, hence its current form, never having needed an upgrade since then. Roads in the town centre have now been downgraded (although this took a while to happen); the three roads mentioned above no longer enter town and Cheam Road is the only one of the three still classified, as the B2200.
