When the current route of the A33 immediately south of Reading town centre was built, the old road was renumbered A3031.
The road started at a roundabout on the A327 (which continues north along the ex-A33) and headed south along Basingstoke Road through the suburb of Whitley. Presently the A33 came in from the west and the A3031 ended here, at M4 J11.
The A3031 did not last long and has now been downgraded, becoming the B3031.
