The A34 is a short and quiet route linking Ballasalla to the A3 towards Peel and Ramsey. It starts at a fork on the A26 in Ballasalla and heads north along Phildraw Road. The B50 then forks left to pass through the scenic Silverdale Glen, but the A26 continues to wind gently northwards passing a steady string of large detached houses interspersed with small fields. A sharper right hand bend sees the B29 continue ahead, while the A34 now runs north west through fields to meet the A3 at a T junction. The route must be one of the quietest A roads in the south of the island.
History
As originally numbered in the 1930's, the southern part of the route into Ballasalla was given the B32 number. This route appears to have continued north along the B29, rather than turning north west. It had been renumbered as the A34, on its current route, by 1963.
