The A4204 runs the length of Kensington Church Street in west London.
The road starts at traffic lights on the A315 Kensington High Street and heads north, passing the church, St Mary Abbots, immediately. The road continues and bears left on meeting the B405 Vicarage Gate, with the A4204 retaining the Kensington Church Street name.
The road continues through an area which is residential with a number of shops. It shortly splits to form a one-way loop. Northbound traffic simply continues ahead and soon ends at traffic lights on the A402 Notting Hill Gate. Southbound traffic leaves that road at another set of lights one block east and runs along Kensington Mall, reaching the northern end of the B405 en route; that road is also one-way here and so cannot be accessed from this direction.
Originally the A4204 ended in a third spot. It ran along Jameson Street to the west and ended more-or-less opposite the A4206.
