For the later A5002 in northern Derbyshire, see A5002 (Derbyshire).
In the original 1922 road numbering, the A5002 number was allocated to a tiny link road in Finedon, near to Kettering and Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
The number was specifically allocated to Obelisk Road, a tiny road that simply cuts the southeastern corner between the A6 and A510 in the village centre. The road itself is very narrow, and in modern times is residential and one-way westbound, and so it is difficult to believe that it saw sufficient traffic to be granted a Class I number and funding back in 1922.
In the 1935 Road numbering revision, it became a spur of the A510. However, it appears to have been downgraded soon as Obelisk Road appears as unclassified on New Popular maps; it remains so today.
