For the original incarnation in Shropshire, see A5013 (Shrewsbury).
The A5013 runs southeastwards from Eccleshall in Staffordshire to the county town of Stafford. It was originally part of the B5026, before being upgraded between 1937 and 1939, as seen on the relevant OS Ten Mile Road Maps.
It starts at a mini-roundabout junction with the A519 in Eccleshall and leaves the town, appropriately enough, along Stafford Road. Running through level farmland in the valley of the River Sow, the route passes through Little Bridgeford (just a few houses) and then the larger settlement of Great Bridgeford, where the B5405 comes in from the right, after which we immediately cross over the West Coast Main Line and the Sow.
The next mile and a half brings us to Cresswell and Junction 14 of the M6, which also serves a short SW–NE spur of the A34. A final mile along Eccleshall Road (signed, but not mapped, as a primary route) leads to a roundabout junction with the main line of the A34 to the north of Stafford town centre.
