The A5090 is an urban road in Bootle. Originally unclassified, the road seems to have gained its number in the mid-1920s.
The road starts at traffic lights on the A5038 in the Kirkdale area of Liverpool. The road heads north along the residential Westminster Road past Kirkdale station and soon enters the outskirts of Bootle, where the street name changes to Hawthorne Road. After crossing a park the road crosses the A5058 at traffic lights, quickly followed by the A5057 at a roundabout.
Now traffic-calmed, the road continues along more of the same to cross the A5098 at traffic lights. The speed bumps are left behind and we pass through an industrial area to another set of lights on the A566. The houses now come back on the right (and on the left as well but not for a bit longer) as we skirt the suburb of Orrell to cross a freight-only railway line. We continue past a supermarket to end at traffic lights on the A5036. Ahead is the B5422.
