Starting in Stoneygate, Leicester the A6030 leaves the A6 at Traffic Lights signed Leicester East on to Stoughton Road then Gartree Road. At Gartree Roaundabout the A6030 turns and enters Stoughton Drive.
At Traffic Lights with the A47 the primary status is lost although the A6030 continues now with various road names. The road is mainly suburban but towards the end Humberstone Heights Golf Course is passed at length.
The end is in the Humberstone area at a controlled roundabout on the A563
