The 1922 Road Lists state that the A936 was a link in Brechin. My best guess is South Esk Street, which is identified as an A road in the 1960s, but without a number marked - Clerk Street was the A94 at the time.
The alternative is that the High Street and Union or Bridge Street was once the A936, but already declassified by the 1960s.
