Aberarder Bridge carries the B851 across the River Nairn near its source, indeed it is the first time a public road crosses the river. The bridge is a wide twin-span concrete structure, clearly dating from the last 50 years. Quite why the bridge needs to be so wide when it is carrying a lightly trafficked road across a very small stream is unclear, perhaps the river can swell considerably in storms or from snow melt.
Whilst there is no obvious evidence of a previous bridge across the river at this point, maps from the 1920s clearly show a road bridge at this location.
