Junctions related to the A824 | |||
Auchterarder Junction lies to the west of the town and is the western end of the towns bypass. The A9 bypass passes to the south of the town, and the A824 has been extended along the former route of the A9 between this junction and Aberuthven Junction at the eastern end of the bypass.
The junction is a simple at-grade fork, where the former line of the A9 is now followed by the eastbound offlsip. All other movements are catered for at a simple T junction, with a short filter lane for left turning traffic from the A824. Right turns are via a central reservation gap in the centre of the A9, which includes a long right turn lane. This is despite there being comparatively little traffic making this movement, as much of the traffic will turn off at Aberuthven Junction instead of doubling back on itself.
The name of the junction appears in official legislation[1]
