The B1290 was a short but important B-road in Sunderland.
It started on the B1289 by the church in Southwick and headed south across the Queen Alexandra Bridge over the River Wear. It then headed east past Millfield to end on the A183 in the centre of Bishopwearmouth.
It has now been upgraded to Class I status as the A1231, although upgrades mean that the original ends of the B1290 are unclassified.
