For the current B1292 west of Great Ayton in Yorkshire, see B1292.
The B1292 was a short road in Sunderland connecting the docks on the left bank of the River Wear with the main road, which was originally the A19.
It started on the A19 (now A1018) and headed east along Dundas Street and Dock Street to end on an unclassified road in the dock area.
The number did not last long - the Durham Coast Road was built in the 1920s and the section north of Sunderland was allocated the number A183; this road was routed over the entire length of the B1292 to allow traffic to cross the A19 Wearmouth Bridge into Sunderland, making the B1292 number redundant.
Building work in the area has all but removed Dock Street from the map and the A183 now runs parallel. The ex-B1292 is part unclassified, part non-existent.
