Route
The B1370 is an urban A-road in the Great Yarmouth suburb of Gorleston-on-Sea, on the historic Suffolk side of the River Yare.
The road starts at a roundabout on the A47 and heads vaguely northwards along the residential Middleton Road, soon crossing a bridge back over the A47. We now skirt the centre of Gorleston. There's a roundabout by the church and then we continue along Church Road, parallel to the High Street, to reach a roundabout on the A143. Both classified roads end here.
History
The B1370 number was not allocated in the original 1922 Road Lists but the road came to the area in the mid-1920s. The original route of the B1370, like the current one, was a loop off the A12 but was slightly further east.
The original southern end of the B1370 was in the same place as the present; the road then headed north along Lowestoft Road and Gorleston High Street to end on the A47 (former A12) Beccles Road.
This situation lasted until 1993 when the present route of the A47 through Gorleston was built. The B1370 was rerouted onto some of the bypassed section of A12 and the original B1370 was declassified.
