For the original B1442 in Wisbech, see B1442 (Wisbech).
The B1442 is a short link road through the northern suburbs of Clacton. The road presumably dates to the construction of the A133 western bypass in the 1990s (the east-west section is new-build; the north-south section originally unclassified).
The road starts at a roundabout on the A133 and heads east, soon crossing the B1441 (pre-bypass A133) at another roundabout. The fields soon give way to a supermarket and caravan park but the road remains largely rural until the next roundabout which gives access to an industrial estate. We turn right here, signposted "Great Clacton Shopping Centre".
We soon enter the residential area of Great Clacton and continue south along Thorpe Road. It's not long before we end at a triangular junction on the B1369, which continues ahead into the centre of Great Clacton.
