The B2146 is a long B-road across the South Downs.
It starts on the edge of Petersfield at a junction with the B2070. It goes southeastwards and passes the B2199.
The B2146 goes through Nursted where the road enters West Sussex and then goes over the hill to South Harting where it has to TOTSO right. It passes the B2141 before going past Uppark, now owned by the National Trust.
After going through Compton and West Marden we pass the B2147 and enter Funtington, where it TOTSOs left. The road originally left this village to the southeast but it has been rerouted slightly to avoid the narrow Watery Lane. Instead, it reaches the western end of the B2178; it has to TOTSO right at this point.
The road now weaves a little and goes through West Ashling. It goes over the A27 by bridge, crosses a level crossing by Bosham Station and then terminates at a roundabout on the A259.
