The B3345 is a zig-zag link in Reading connecting the A329 at the south end of Reading Bridge to the A4155 in the suburb of Lower Caversham. The road was originally unclassified but gained its number in the mid-1920s.
Starting from the Reading Bridge Roundabout on Vastern Road, we follow George Street north for 700 metres, crossing the Thames and passing Christchurch Meadows, largely screened by a continuous row of poplars to our left. At traffic lights we turn right into Gosbrook Road, heading eastward for some 480 metres before turning left at a mini-roundabout to head north once more, now following Briant's Avenue. From another mini-roundabout at the end of this road, we embark on the final 480 metres of the route, following Lower Henley Road east-north-eastward to reach our terminus at traffic lights on the A4155 Henley Road.
History
Today the route appears to be entirely out of zone, but that is because it originally started a little to the south of the A4 and followed Mount Pleasant, Silver Street and London Street north into the town centre. After winding through the market place, it briefly multiplexed with the B479 under the railway lines, before picking up its current route to the north.
