Route
The B4220 is a rural B-road in east Herefordshire.
It starts on the B4214 to the southwest of Bosbury and heads northeast through the village before zigzagging across country via Pow Green and Westfield to Stony Cross, where it meets the A4103.
There is a short multiplex west up the hill to Ridgeway Cross, where the B4220 regains its number and northerly direction. The road descends gradually, passing through Acton Green en route, before reaching the A44 about a mile east of Bromyard. The road ends here.
History
Originally the B4220 only consisted of the northern half, between the A4103 (formerly B4207) and A44. The road south to Bosbury was originally the B4218 but was upgraded to the A4154 for a short period after World War II. When the road was downgraded again the number B4218 was in use elsewhere, so it became a southern extension of the B4220.
