The B4244 was a largely urban B-road in the Welsh Valleys.
It started on the A472 in Pontypool and headed south through what is now the Cwmbran urban area, although it was just a chain of small towns in 1922, including Griffithstown, Pontnewydd and Cwmbran itself. The road followed a winding course which is not immediately obvious on modern maps.
It met no other classified roads before ending on the A4042 in Llantarnam.
The road was upgraded to Class I status in the 1960s, becoming the A4051. Upgrades of the Cwmbran road network in the intervening years mean that the entire of the ex-B4244 has been bypassed and so the road is now unclassified.
