The B5014 is a short rural road, part of a longer connecting route from Uttoxeter to Lichfield.

It begins at a T junction with the B5013, where that road has to TOTSO to the west of Abbots Bromley. We head east through the village, with its attractive green and market cross, passing the B5234 junction before leaving the built-up area. The road continues south-east through Bromley Hurst and over the little River Blithe (just downstream of Blithfield Reservoir) to reach Blithbury. From there it descends through Hill Ridware village before crossing the River Trent by the New High Bridge (the Old High Bridge, the road's original river crossing, is immediately downstream, now closed to traffic).

The road is then met from the east by the A513 (the A-road has to TOTSO) and multiplexes into Handsacre. After crossing the Trent & Mersey Canal the B5014 regains its number by turning left, before having to TOTSO left soon afterwards on meeting the B5015. Our road passes over the West Coast Main Line railway immediately afterwards and continues on out of the village. After a mile or so the road passes Seedy Mill Treatment Works on the right before meeting the A515 at a place called 'The Roundabout', which isn't a roundabout at all but a simple forked junction!
