Route
The B5145 is an urban B-road on the Wirral.
The road starts at a roundabout on the A551 on the southern edge of Wallasey town centre and begins by going south along Breck Road. It passes Weatherhead High School before crossing a bridge over the approach road to the Kingsway Tunnel. After crossing the A5088 at traffic lights it goes over the tunnel approach road again and continues east along Poulton Road.
The B5145 crosses the A5027 at traffic lights and then continues along a winding residential road. Eventually it reaches a set of traffic lights where all four roads have different numbers. Left is the A551, which came here via Liscard; ahead is the A5028; and right is the B5144.
History
Originally all of the above was numbered A5028. The B5145 was actually the road heading north-south through the junction at the eastern end of the present B5145.
The road started on the then-B5144 Liscard Road and headed south along Mainwaring Road and Wheatland Lane through Seacombe. It ended on the A554 in the dockyard area of town.
Road numbers in this area have changed significantly since 1922. Mainwaring Road is now part of the A551 whilst the rest of the original section of B5145 is now the B5144, making that another road to have been rerouted completely whilst still existing in its original area.
