The B5189 is a short link road in the east of Liverpool.
It starts on the A5080 just inside the A5058 ring road. It heads northwest along the largely residential Broad Green Road before reaching a set of traffic lights on the A57 Prescot Road.
There is a short multiplex west along the A57 (via a junction with the A5047) before the B5189 regains its number by turning north at another set of traffic lights. This is actually the original southern end of the B5189. It then continues along Green Lane which is semi-industrial to begin with but residential by the far end. The road then ends at traffic lights on the A5049 West Derby Road.
