Route outline (key)
B5278 Flookburgh - Haverthwaite
The B5278 enters Cark
The B5278 is a rural B-road in north Lancashire.

It starts in the Market Place in Flookburgh when the B5277 bends to the right and changes number. There are no other classified roads here. The B5278 heads north along Station Road to pass Cark & Cartmel station (just before reaching a sign welcoming drivers to Cark) before going over the railway line.

The narrow River Eea is crossed in the centre of Cark before the road skirts the grounds of Holker Hall. It continues north on the edge of the coastal plain, passing very few buildings. Eventually the road enters the Lake District National Park before skirting Bark House Wood and then crossing the River Leven to enter Haverthwaite. The road goes through part of the village before ending on the A590.
