The B528, like other B52x roads, is a short link in Derry. The road forms a loop off the A2 through the city centre and indeed runs along that road's original route.
Starting at Foyleside Roundabout the B528 heads north along Foyle Street and passes the car park to the Foyleside Shopping Centre before turning into the service entrance. The road ahead is partially pedestrianised and only accessible southbound. If we continue on foot we pass the shopping centre to reach traffic lights, after which Foyle Street continues one-way northbound.
The road continues past shops and offices before reaching a T-junction by the Guildhall. The Shipquay Gate in the city walls lies to the left and the old A2 continued ahead between the walls and the Guildhall; this is now a pedestrianised square. The B528 therefore TOTSOs right into Shipquay Place, which is still one-way, and then merges into the northbound A2. The pedestrian Peace Bridge is adjacent.
