The B529 is a short link road on the northern side of Derry city centre. Owing to the road's short length its history is not known.
The road starts on the B524 Infirmary Road and heads east down Great St James Street, also carrying eastbound B527 traffic at this point. We cross the B507 Francis Street at traffic lights, after which the road becomes one-way. This residential road is followed to a T-junction as we meet Queen Street; we TOTSO right to remain on Great St James Street, which now becomes two-way again.
Houses give way to shops and flats, then one block further east a spur of the B527 turns right along Little St James Street, then we continue ahead towards the city centre. We cross Strand Road, the original line of the A2, at traffic lights, then bear round to the right to end at a roundabout on the present line of that road.
