The B6176 is a short link road in Stalybridge town centre.
It starts at traffic lights on the A635 Stamford Street and heads east along Rassbottom Street. It passes the station then goes under the Manchester to Huddersfield railway line. The Market Square is then reached.
Originally the B6176 ended here, with the B6175 heading right along Water Street (as it still does) and also ahead along Market Avenue. Now the mainline of the B6175 has been rerouted to the south the B6176 continues ahead to emphasise this is not the through route for that road. In fact, Market Avenue is one-way in the other direction and eastbound traffic must detour via the unclassified Waterloo Road.
Market Avenue turns into Trinity Street which crosses Waterloo Road at a staggered crossroads and then ends on the A6018, confusingly also called Stamford Street.
