The B6409 is a short link road in Dewsbury. It was originally unclassified; owing to its short length its history is not fully known but it had definitely gained its number by the late 1940s.
The road starts at a mini-roundabout on the B6117 adjacent to that road's bridge over the River Calder and head north along Station Road (Thornhill station, now closed, lay in the other direction). To begin with we pass between the river and a churchyard but it's not long before the road becomes built-up and we continue along Savile Road.
We run through the centre of the suburb, passing a recreation ground and a row of shops, before going over the Calder. The road ends on the far side at traffic lights on the A638 by Dewsbury Minster.
